Footprint Pipe Wrenches are an all purpose pipe wrench, being used extensively in plumbing and general pipe work applications. The world famous Footprint wrench was invented by Footprint's founder Thomas R Ellin in 1875 and since then more than 15 million have been sold across the world.
An invaluable addition to any tool kit for moving the immovable. They have served generations of Plumbers and the company still gets the occasional one returned for refurbishment which has been inherited from fathers or even grandfathers.
The Footprint wrench consists of two parts. The first part is a drop forged hook with a toothed jaw at the end. The second part is a pressed steel frame with carefully profiled teeth. The wrench is adjusted to various diameters by means of a bolt or an adjusting nut, depending upon the pattern type. The original 698 pattern has a forged handle with a screwdriver type end, suitable for a variety of applications.
